Local boxer, Muhammad Ali, has named Springhill Hospice as one of his chosen charities to support at his future boxing matches.
Ali, from Rochdale, is about to take on his fourth professional fight since becoming the UK’s first diabetic professional boxer back in May 2018. He has generously committed to donating at least 10% of every ticket sold at one of his fights to Springhill Hospice.
Ali said: “I wanted to give something back to my local community through the love of my sport and as Springhill Hospice has done so much for the people of Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton, I want to support in any way I can.”
Muhammad recently visited the hospice where he met with Chief Executive, Julie Halliwell.
Springhill Hospice’s Corporate and Partnerships Fundraiser, Sophie Ansley said: “We are delighted that Muhammad has chosen to support the hospice, especially in the year we celebrate our 30th Anniversary. He is a great role model, inspiration and somebody we are proud to partner with. Good luck to Muhammad in his upcoming match.”
Ali’s next fight is Saturday 9 March at Bolton’s Stadium. For tickets visit; www.muhammadaliboxing.com
